Things to do in Singapore – MacRitchie Reservoir
One of the gems of Singapore that won’t be in your “what to do in 3 days” online itineraries is MacRitchie Reservoir. Around the catchment area is a large forest full of trees with the occasional monkey and massive lizard to spot out. This is a great place to go for a hike while still staying in the city.
To get here, you can take the Circle line to Marymount MRT, or a set of buses. A lot of this will depend on where you want to start the hike but most start from where i put the red marker on the map (Its the main bus terminal).
MacRitchie Walking Trail

Example Trail
Beware, this isn’t one of those flat path trails because its Singapore. Its quite rocky, and has a mix of small inclines and declines. I’d recommend bringing plenty of water and some snacks to have along the pit stops (read below). I only saw one drink station right at the start where you can pickup some water or energy drinks.
A nice shot of a family together
After about 5.5KM of walking, you will reach the tree top walk. Its OK, not very high but nice to walk on a suspended bridge. A monkey came here and took someones Pink Yan Yan chocolates! We also saw a Pringles can that had been torn up pretty badly. Shows how sharp their claws can be.
From this point you can either take the trail back to the original spot (approx 6KM). Alternatively, you can walk along the reservoir where its more open, nicer, and shorter. Better for the cooler days.
One of my favourite places in Singapore 🙂
